Elboya Restrictive Covenant Meeting
Elboya Restrictive Covenant Meeting
A Restrictive Covenant meeting has been scheduled with the law firm who will be drafting the Elboya restrictive covenant. Many of you are ready to move ahead with adding a new Restrictive covenant to your property. This meeting is for you to come and hear from the lawyer and understand next steps. If you are unsure or still need information, this meeting is also for you as I will again review the intention of the new covenant in protecting our community and what as property owners we need to do.
The meeting will take place: May 26 at 7pm.
Please add this to your calendars and stay tuned for a confirmed location.
Information about Restrictive Covenants in general can be found on the development page of Elboyabritannia.com. There is also other information about the intention of the restrictive covenants and why we, as neighbours, think it is the best way to protect our community.
The parameters of the restrictive covenant will be as follows:
1. Single family homes only.
2. No subdivision of properties.
3. 45% maximum lot coverage.
4. Allowance for non-commercial secondary suites. ( This allows for nanny/caregiver/parent/child suites.)
Process for property owners:
1. Review the information on the development page https://www.elboyabritannia.com/elboya-restrictive-covenant
2. Review the parameters above. If you have any questions, please feel to reach out to elboyaneighbours@gmail.com
3. Please get your own legal advice as to whether this makes sense for you.
4. As many people are supporting this initiative and asking how they can help, please socialize with your neighbours. This works best when the majority of property owners are on board. It is truly about neighbors supporting neighbors.
The May 26th meeting will be followed by a “signing meeting” 2 weeks later, date TBA.
***ACTION ITEM***
Please email elboyaneighbours@gmail.com to confirm your interest in moving forward with putting the new covenant on your property. With adequate confirmations, we will trigger the lawyer to legally prepare the covenant as per the parameters above and present it at the meeting on May 26th.

Upcoming Construction: Water Main Extension / Britannia water pressure loss
Crews from the City of Calgary will be working in the Manchester Industrial area to extend a water main on the north side of 53 Ave S.E. beginning in April. As part of this work, crews will be required to complete a two-valve shut off to safely and properly complete this work. One of the valves that will be shut off is located at the Calgary Golf and Country Club.
During this two-valve shut off, some Britannia residents may notice a loss of water pressure. Pressure loss will vary from house to house, but Britannia residents will not need to be placed on temporary water at any point during this work.
On May 9, the construction that will require a two-valve shut-off will begin and it is anticipated to take three weeks to complete this work.
A construction notice will be delivered to residents in the impacted area, and we will proactively communicate construction updates so impacted citizens. We remain committed to this project as part of the ongoing work The City is doing to invest in utility infrastructure upgrades.

Rink volunteer info session
Have you ever imagined a volunteer role that is entirely flexible to your schedule, allows you to listen to your favorite podcast or music while you carry out your work, gets rewarded with a beer afterwards AND provides the satisfaction of knowing you are contributing to what helps make Elboya Britannia the best community in Calgary?
If yes (ok, and even if your answer is no ...) do we have a role for you!
You may have noticed that we have started building our amazing outdoor skating rinks, its also time for our annual call for more RINK VOLUNTEERS.
We need two types of volunteers:
Ice prep & maintenance: to commit to a few hours per week to sweep and flood the rink. This is honestly much easier than it sounds – ne person, once they get the hang of it, can do this in 1 to 2 hours. And you absolutely can listen to a podcast while you do it.
Less frequent, but more skill specific volunteers:
Gas and diesel engine mechanics (properly functioning equipment is key to make this easy for the volunteers)
Deck snow shoveling volunteers (could be youth volunteers)
If you are interested please contact John Harrop by email or come to the info sessions at the Elboya Hall on Wednesday Nov 20 at 8pm

Neighbour Day 2024
Now in its 11th year, Neighbour Day is an opportunity for Calgarians to celebrate our community spirit and kindness.
Neighbour Day started in June 2014 to recognize the incredible outpouring of support and generosity of neighbours following the 2013 floods. Held each year on the third Saturday in June, Neighbour Day is a step toward creating welcoming and inclusive communities where neighbours connect and belong every day of the year.
Here are some ideas:
Organize a block party (permits are free) or backyard BBQ with your neighbours
Organize a neighbourhood sports activity or picnic in the park
Organize a small community clean-up using the City of Calgary’s TLC Kits
Lend a helping hand to a neighbour
Complete a My Neighbour card as part of creating a safe and caring community
Or another idea you have!
Take a look here for more information.
