Mike Read

Director of Development (Britannia)

Mike is a retired engineer that grew up in Calgary and went to the University of Calgary. He and his wife Nancy have lived and raised their family in Britannia since 1983. Nancy grew up in Britannia; her family built one of the original home in 1956.

He and his wife Nancy have volunteered in several Community Association roles over the years. They lived in Cliff Bungalow in the 1970’s and were both founding members on the first Board of the Cliff Bungalow Community Association. They have been members of the Britannia Community Association since they moved there, and Nancy was on the Board in the 1990’s. Nancy has volunteered at the Elboya and Queen Elizabeth Schools and Mike was a Boy Scout leader for the Britannia Troop.

In 2018 Mike volunteered to be on the Britannia Caveat Committee of the newly amalgamated Elboya Britannia Community Association EBCA. In 2019 he was made aware through contacts in other Community Associations of the City’s changes to planning and development policies and practices. The City’s objective is to accommodate additional population growth into existing established communities like Altadore, Marda Loop, and eventually Elboya Britannia.

He is currently Director, Planning and Development- Britannia, and continues to be the focal point for EBCA with other Community Associations and the City Administration regarding these changes
